Diptyque ensures their classic fragrances become a permanent collection.

Since 1961 Diptyque have been offering various different fragrances from their Boulevard Saint Germain store, and when they started to produce candles for the home they solidified their position as a much loved brand that entered the conciousness of all people as a go to brand for high quality scented candles.

One thing that Diptyque have a rather annoying habit of doing is, repeatedly discontinuing lines that become popular, presumably this is a tactic to increase interest, as they will for example in the case of the figuier, release it, have it well loved, get it produced as a special edition (in this case a limited edition tanner krolle candle and base) then discontinue it for a couple of years, until finally re-releasing it again.  Very frustrating, and this strange habit continues across the range of their fragrances, as recently as 2008 the olene fragrance was discontinued, along with them releasing a rose candle, which became popular that was subsequently announced to be a limited edition and discontinued.

In order to ensure that certain very popular scents are never removed from the ranges on the whims of designers, they have released a 'classic' range, comprising the (aforementioned) figuier, baies, tuberuese and philoskyos, it represents products that will always be part of the Diptyque ranges, unless I suppose they change their minds again.
