New from Highland Park for 2011 is this limited edition whisky release, in reality a marketing trick rather than a true whisky release. Rather like those 'special' bottlings one finds at the duty free, designed for travel, they make them slightly over priced just so with duty free reductions money is still made all round.
It's major selling point is that it is reasonable priced, at only £55 no-one is going to find themselves considering this an investment purchase. According to various sources, it is also a surprisingly palletable dram also, with a heady mediteranean nose, and a touch of brine, and on the toung it has a strong sharp youthful snap or barley.
Anyone purchasing this would not find themselves displeased, but rather than a prestige bottle to leave on display and rarely touch, this might be one better left in the back of the drinks cabinet and brought out to satisfy the tastes of guests who either lack the capacity of sobriety to appreciate finer spirits.
