Lamborghini's CEO Winkelmann suggests the release of a budget model within 5 years.

As an Uber luxury Marque Lamborghini has a position in most peoples mind right up there with Ferrari, Bentley, and Roll's Royce.  However the current recession has hit apex brands such as Lamborghini quite hard, this it would appear has pushed Lamborghini to make the only decision that a company can in such times, go budget or go under.

According to a statement Stephan Winkelmann made to Reuters; "We are going to have a third model, it has to be an everyday car.  We want to have a car which is able to be used on a daily basis".  This would seem to indicate a similar philosophy to the one which has seen Aston martin produce a smart type car.

Winkelmann went on to say that such a vehicle could be produced as quickly as within four years, however no price point was given, nor any information on whether it would be a four seater, hatchback or merely a budget sports car.

Considering the current pricing of their two production cars, £250,000 for the Aventador, which we discussed just recently here, and their mainline staple the Gallardo, priced at £180,000, it is likely the pricing on this new model, released in the projected 4 years, would still be somewhere around the £100,000 price range.
