Blackberry announced repackaged Porsche Designed 9900, titled "9981"

The Blackberry 9900 has been acklowleged by all and sundry as being the best standard format Blackberry handset ever made, slimmer than all other before it at only 11.5mm thick, and with a faster processor even than the brand new iPhone 4s just released weeks ago, it a barnstormer of a phone, combining both touchscreen and tactile keypad in a way that only RIM can.

RIM is in fact so proud if their new handset, that they have decided to re-package it, in collaboration with porsche design, they have announced this handset, although the press releases do not expressly state this is a repackaged 9900, common sense and a cursory glance at the specs will inform you it is.

There are however a few differences between this and the 9900, the first is obviously the case however this case makes a significant difference to the het of the device, adding 1 mm of thickness in every direction, and 20grams of weight, a second difference is the micro sd card, which they have turned round to make it hot swappable, in laymans terms this means, that previously you had to remove the battery to swap the SD card, but the redesigned Porsche handset has repositioned the SD slot so it is accessible without removing the Battery.  And finally (drums rolling) the biggest difference between the two handsets, the price, this new 9981 wil be costing £1800 when it is released in time for christmas.
