Bacardi Don Bacardi de Maestros de don

It may surprise a lot of people, especially those who frown upon the "bacardi & coke" crowd, but the Bacardi Distillery in Cuba is the largest family owned Spirits company in the world, and, with 150 years of history, it is also one of the more historically preserved in the world.

The company and Cuba in general owe a huge debt of gratitude to their founder and rum pioneer, Don Facundo Bacardi, whose specialised process created the spirit which is enjoyed worldwide today.

In order to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the brands birth, Bacardi have brought together a team of eight expert Rum blenders, to create a unique and limited edition Rum, to both honour, and celebrate the Don.

The special edition "Don Bacardi de Maestros de Don, utilises only the absolute highest quality sugarcane molasses, better even than that normally used in Bacardi's products, the MMXII vintage has a aromatic nose, and a full bodied flavour, owing to the use of minimum 60 year old Cognac casks in its production, it is presented in a hand blown Coconut decanter, to remind of the Coconut palm placed at the entrance of the first Bacardi distillery in Santiago de Cuba by Don Faundo's son 150 years ago.

Each hand blown crystal decanter is individually numbered with the edition of the series, and it is presented in a hand made leather case.  Available only at International travel retail stores, and premium alcohol stores worldwide, it costs £1500 per bottle.
