Berluti First Menswear collection for Fall/Winter 2012.

Touched by LVMH, the strictly luxury shoe brand Berluti has for the first time in it's 120 year history created a selection of Clothing.  The Acquisition of Berluti by LVMH is not exactly new news, having occurred way back in 1993, since this acquisition, they gradually expanded their portfolio to include Leather goods, Luggage items, and even leather bound books, however, the transition to Clothing is a huge step for a brand so focused on originally fine footwear, and laterally fine leather goods.

According to rumours on the grapevine, LVMH has set it's sights on turning Berluti into a Menswear focused arm of the Empire, how true this is remains to be seen, Berluti's expertise lays with footwear, it is able to apply its skills in fine leatherware easily to luggage and small leather goods, however changing horses and becoming a menswear brand out of the blue, seems a little short sighted on behalf of LVMH, a luxury behemoth which rarely puts a foot wrong.

Despite any comments made by Mr. Arnault, it is more likely that the menswear collection is an experiment, and depending on it's success, it may be continued or not.  At any rate, the images below show the first collection, set for release later this year, ric and expansive in shades of deep purple, navy and blacks, it is a dandified collection, designed specifically to move effortlessly from day to night with supreme ease, cashmeres and fine wools sit alongside subtle patterns, all reminiscent of Berluti's richly hued footwear.

Available in Late August from selected Berluti boutiques.
