Bulgari Commedia Dell' Arte Watch.

Bulgari's watchmaking division has gradually expanded, through painful steps, and the acquisition of the Gerald Genta workshops, it has become a genuine alternative to other brands, and not merely a jewellery brand which sticks crappy movements in pretty cases.

This latest release from Bulgari the Commedia Dell' Arte Watch range features three grand comlication watches, each of which with a different famous character from Italian 16th century theatrical history, pictured here is the Brighella, or lustful fool, character of classic Italian theater, also available is the Pucinella and Harlequin.

The manner in which the watch chooses to display these characters is exceptional, cast from an entirely handmade solid 18k gold dial, the enamelled elements are hand applied, and in fact form part of a subtle interplay between all the parts of the watch to both entertain and tell the time, with the right arm of each character pointing to the minute, and each character sitting on a window which gives the hours.

On the technical side of things, as suggested by the method in which the minutes are read, the watch is a minute repeater, a highly complex movement, with tonal sounding, and 18k white gold case, set on a Black Alligator band.  Pricing has not been announced, but expect upwards of £100k per edition.
