Finlay & Co. is a brand which you may have heard of, but probably have not seen yet, this is on account of the handmade, and exceptionally work intensive processes that go into producing pairs of these glasses. Started by a former investment banker just 12 months ago, the brand has quickly gone from strength to strength, being seen on the likes of David Gandy and Pippa Middleton.
They produce essentially very simple styles, just two in fact, the Ledbury, square frames, unisex but more suitable for Men, and the Bosworth, round frames again potentially unisex, but slightly more suitable for Women. They then simply produce these two styles in a selection of rare woods, Zebrano, Walnut, Rosewood and Ebony.
And anyone concerned about the ethical impacts of utilising wood, Finlay & Co. use only sustainably sourced wood.
In fact, the only thing more remarkable than the Finlay story, its meteoric rise in such a short period, its stunning handmade products, and the pure elegant simplicity of the whole affair, is their adherence to traditional British values, specifically that of excellent value, in general handmade wooden frames cost hundreds of pounds, normally no less than £500, however, the most expensive of these frames are the Ebony ones, costing just £160, and the Zebrano Wood frames, currently sold out at time of writing, are a virtual steal at only £105.
