Monster have been pumping out a prolific selection of higher end headphones since the dissolution of their Beats Dr Dre collaboration, with the Monster Crystal Tears, Monster DNA White Tuxedo and Monster Genesis to name but a few, now, this product first announced as a concept at Baselworld is entering the marketplace, the Hublot Inspiration Headphones.
While the other recent releases may be high end in concept, with the exception of the special edition diamond spider diamond tears edition which retailed at some £10,000 and was a one of a kind, none of the new models topped the £400 mark upon release, that all changes with the Hublot Inspiration phones, which cost a whopping £1,500 per pair, putting them firmly in the top tier of Headphone pricing.
What have Monster and Hublot done to justify the pricing? First off designed by the same person behind the Dr Dre headphones, Noel Lee, they are cast from solid aluminium, leather and feature carbon fibre ear-cups, which is nice, but not £1,500 of nice.
What really makes these stand out is the audio technology, said by Monster to be the most technologically advanced headphones in the world, a claim which may ordinarily be difficult to support, but looking at the gadgetry inside these babies, we find it may be at the least considered reasonable. The claim is connected to the noise cancelling technology, which uses not one but two microphones to pick up external noise, and make the necessary adjustments to cancel it, one for the beeps and clicks, and one for the loud sounds such as plane noises and car engine sounds, this is then fed into Monsters "Enigma Audio Engine" which processes the data, and outputs the exact right levels. Additionally, the new Enigma chip can process AAC, APT-X codecs, has direct USB connectivity, and Bluetooth wireless technology for wire-free use.
So it is not too hard to see why these headphones command such a steep price, containing as they do, both luxurious and rare materials, and significantly advanced technologies. The Hublot Inspiration Haedphones are available from the end of July in Hublot Stores world-wide.
