Victorinox Gold "Rio" Edition Swiss Army Knife.

There is no doubt about it, the Olympics is a major world event.  And inevitably, when major world events occur, the marketing machine grinds into gear producing consumer products and campaigns designed to capitalise on said event.

We haven't seen a great deal of Olympic themed merchandise yet, but thats sure to change over the coming months, and riding the beginnings of that wave comes from Victorinox, a special edition luxury version of its Swiss Army Knife.

Taking the climber model, which is one of Victorinox's most complete offerings, the tool has large and small blades, a bottle opener, scissors, large and flat blade screwdrivers, a multi-hook, corkscrew, key ring and tweezers.  The model also will be coated in 99.9% pure 24k gold, and will be limited to 20,000 pieces worldwide.

Available from July 23rd it will cost a surprisingly reasonable £50, which makes it 2.5 times more expensive than the standard model climber.
