New and Lingwood Pirate socks a more elegant way to express your individuality.

For some considerable time it has been considered, certainly in england at least, that a pair of colourful socks are the way to express some sort of secret inner unique fun-ness that an individual may possess.  I'm not sure about other countries, but the English, especially the Office and professional classes, have until very recently, and in many cases still are, forced to wear very traditional and smart clothing, pretty much 5 days a week, only allowing for Saturday and Sunday to be relaxed, and when on Holiday.  This leads Men to feel dull and uninteresting, and so it can often be observed a brightly coloured pair of socks peeking out from underneath a Gentleman's trousers, usually Red.

Trouble is, what may once have been a cry of the individual, has become so ubiquitous to be rather a cliche, and few variations on this theme - multicolured, yellow, pink - can make it seem less so.

Now a collaboration between New and Lingwood and Fortnum and Mason may have proposed a possible alternative.  Elegant slim 100% cotton socks in black, with a coloured toe, heel and skull and crossbones logo on each sock.

The logo is a little up the ankle, so can only be seen by accident, the small touch of colour on the heel just peeks out, and the logo can only be seen by accident, just as it should be wen wanting to secrectly express individuality, rather than ramming it down peoples throats with bright red socks.
