Hermes takes a stab at eco friendliness and affordability with Petit H

Hermes has long been the absolute zenith with regards to Luxury goods, and every field they move into they set a new benchmark in quality and luxury.  Aside from the quality, the prices Hermes Command are also at the very highest level of the Luxury goods industry.

One reason for Hermes ability to justify such exceptional pricing, is their attitude towards exclusivity, they are well known for without exception disposing of any leathers that do not conform to their standard of quality.

Although this ensures they never sell a product that is not the absolute best, from the perspective of conservation it is not a particularly sensible policy, in order to attempt to rectify this they as of mid 2010 introduced a new initiative, whereby the previously useless offcuts are being re-used and worked into other products, and sold in a totally New line known as 'petit H'.

With the usual Hermes flair for excellence, this is certainly not a conventional example of recycling, broken and rejected teapot parts are made into jewellery hangers, imperfect crystal is fashioned into dumbells, and the scraps of leather are fashioned into elegant necklaces, and toy stuffed animals.

The esecially exciting thing about these colections for lovers of Hermes, is that firstly the prices are slightly lower, but most significantly, the extra sparkle that uniquness adds, certianly a Birkin bag is the pinnace of luxury, and owning one is a true pleasure, but these quirky little pieces are one offs, each yeat hermes plan to release three to four collections of items, the collection in the image above was the december 2010 collection, which has completely sold out, now collectors will need to wait for May 2011 and look to Tokyo for the next selection of unique recycled Petit H items.
