Montblanc continue to produce serious Horologic masterpieces including this Nicolas Rieussec Time Writer Table Clock.

As any regular reader of this Web-Log will probably realize, a common ongoing theme is the observance of steps that brands take in order to transform themselves from merely a middle range luxury or other brand into a true powerhouse of luxury enterprise.  an Example is Tag heuer, who's risable 80's plastic sports watches made the merger created company a laughing stock, but they are slowly building themselves respect with some genuine manufacture pieces.

And here we have Montblanc, never any sort of slouch in the luxury department, their collectable pens sell in the high thousands, yet for year they produced a very poor quality collection of other accessories, leather goods, cufflinks and watches that had no place on the wrist or in the pocket of a true luxury afficianado.

However they have cast off the stigma of just being good a making fine pens and nothing else, with several collections of extremely fine wrist watches.  This is no doubt due to the ownership by richemont, the vast luxury goods conglomerate that owns amongst other Jaeger and Vacheron, if anyone knows how to do luxury properly, it is most certainly them.

And so then we come to the clock, presented at SIHH 2011 this limited edition table clock is known as the Nicolas Rieussec Horological Timewriter Table Clock. It is in a limited edition of just 19 peices in the world.

It has been made by the German Clockmaker Erwin Sattler, and reproduces the famous chronograph watch collection of the same name.  It is essentially two clocks in one case, with time, chrono and power reserve indications, along with two balance springs, two timing mechanisms and two barrels for the different parts of the mechanism, along with a 15 day power reserve.

Pricing not available at present, but dont expect it to cost less than £30,000 when its released.
