Hermes has been gradually expanding its range of furniture and larger home accessories, at the rate of around one piece at a time. Which is frankly quite appropriate, if you consider the fact that each item is astronomically expensive, merely for bearing the Hermes Branding, its nice to think that they put considerable consideration into releasing each piece.
This latest Dresser, along with a few other pieces, are a re-issue of French Designer jean Michel-Frank's 1930's designs. Frank who famously is part of the same family as Anne Frank, commited suicide in Manhattan aged 46, and was ell renowned for the cubist lines his designs had.
The Hermes re-issues will be made in strict collaboration with the Frank family, to follow all of the original designs, rather than merely being copies, as Jean-Michel Franks designs are widely copied at cut price by furniture manufacturers, and will be produced in various different versions, including offerings in wood, leather and other materials.
