Spring Sumer 2011 has been pretty uninspired across most brands, as yet there have been a few suggestions of styles and trends, but no defining look that previous seasons can be said to have had, perhaps this is a consequence of the current economic slump we are all living in, rather than attempting to bombard us with a complete look, sensing that due to a lack of funds generally such a strategy may be rejected, brands are choosing the more subtle route of suggesting certain key pieces, that way, by this drip-drip presentation, the products begin to seem more accesible.
Whatever the case, one of the few emerging trend suggestions for S/S 2011 have come from Ralph Laurens Top end Purple Label. It is a very elegant 1930s type look, for Smart and casual, one of combining whites and light cream tones with the rich deep tonal brown colours, for a sort of Cuban Havana, tropical carribean type summer look.
It's not an overwhelming versatile look, it would be quite hard to make such a style work anywhere but the warmest and sunniest of climates, and in urban environments should be tried with considerable care as a casual outfit, but in suiting it can work quite well.
Brown is a colour which has become a sort of terror for most men, because it is difficult to wear well most men avoid it in suiting, which is a pity as it is exceptionally elegant done right, the key, as with most things is to keep things simple, this is the difficulty most guys have, if you wear a plain navy or charcoal grey suit the starkness of the suit cloth allows for vibrant shirt and tie combinations, then they don a brown suit and by default attempt to add similar vibrant shirt and tie matches, this is the mistake, with such a significant colour as brown, the key is plain shirt, tie to match the suit cloth, this creates an eternally elegant ensemble that will fit in anywhere.
Whatever the case Purple label along with Polo and a few other brands will be offering several options in this trend, so for anyone looking for suiting bear in mind these sage words, keep it simple and brown cannot fail to impress.
loving this trend, so elegant, ur right tho, bit much in chilly london, or miserable essex!?
