Most fashion pundits agree, this Spring/Summer season has been a pretty low key affair all round, muted shades of colour, and many brands seem to have no clear direction with respect to their collections.
There have been a few stand out pieces nonetheless, and this trench coat from Ralph Lauren's Slim fitting Black label is one of them. constructed from cotton with a lightweight cupro lining, it has a myriad of small endearing details that make it count as more than just 'another trench coat'.
The soft shade of brown known as 'Tamarack Brown' is also notable, a suprisingly versatile colour, brown has been left in the cold (so to speak) by the majority of people, mainly due to an inability to successfully combine pieces together, the fear of looking ridiculous in brown has left us just not even trying. Ralph Lauren has released an ad campaign for his Purple Label brand with brown and white as the only pallete and shows amply there the elegance that brown can have used right, and here with this Trench we see again that brown is not a colour to avoid, rather embrace.
