Gucci continue their Eco friendly drive with a range of new Glasses.

Back in late 2010 we wrote about Gucci leading the way in terms of environmentally aware initiatives with a company wide drive to change their carbon footprint, part of these measures was changing all their carriers in their stores to 99% recyclable materials, and changing the internal company system also with some sweeping moves that made a real difference to the impact this luxury behemoth made on the environment.

Yesterday Gucci announced a new product range which continues their commitment to the environment, and to further reducing their carbon footprint.  Along with eyewear brand Safilo, Gucci have been attempting to find an alternative to Petroleum derived plastics for some time, The new product range which contains frames in Gucci's signature Red and Green carries four models that utilise an acetate containing a higher percentage of  natural sustainable materials rather than the conventional alternative.

In addition to the aforementioned range, in august Gucci also have scheduled for release a range of two different sunglasses for release, these are set to be made from a Bio synthesised form of Castor Oil, a famously versatile material for various different eco friendly applications.
