Harry's of London is one of those success story's we all love to hear about, it both inspires to greater things, and makes us realise that with a little capital and determination, that new idea can really become more than just a concept.
Started in 2000 by Matthew Mellon of the Mellon Banking family, the same Man involved in may other shoe start-ups, such as Jimmy Choo to name but one, it was named after his Grandfather Harry Stokes, and it's Heron Logo is part of the Mellon family crest.
Cynics may shrug their shoulders and say, well with that much money anything is possible, but you see, that simply is not true, no amount of money can force consumers to buy your products, and no amount of money can turn a brand that never existed into a thriving one with serious market presence.
Following a slow climb, starting from selling in high end department stores such as Fortnum and Mason, Harrod's, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols, they have grown inch by inch, first opening a store in 2005 in Mayfair, then another in the Burlington Arcade, and finally in Kuwaits new super Luxury Mall "360".
Matthew Mellon has left the brand now, following Kevin Martel (pictured above) , previously of Giorgio Armani, taking over as creative Director, and the brand has managed the impossible in a difficult market, to attract the attention of big money players, the Atelier Fund LLC became a major stakeholder in 2007.
So we therefore present a fully fledged Luxury shoe brand, which has become renowned for relaxed and elegant shoes, prices start from around £200 for the slipper styles that launched the brand, which we happily reported over a year ago, and steadily increases to around the £300 - £400 mark for most of the styles of shoe, and increasing to several thousands for the bespoke exotic leather shoes.
