Cafe Royal Hotel London Given June 2012 Opening Date.

The 2009 Closure of the Cafe royal, along with all the attendant nightclubs, bars, Hotels and venue in the surrounding area, created a huge hole in Picadilly's nightlife for almost three years, in the basements and alcoves of the huge area leased by the Israeli based investment company Alrov Group contained ChinaWhite, Atlantic Bar, 10 Rooms, Titanic, the Strand Palace Hotel, and several smaller office and drinking venues.

As the image below shows, the new development will occupy the entire corner which used to be the old Cafe Royal, along with what was the Strand Palace Hotel, the development has been kept strictly under wraps, however the scant details that have been revealed include, 16,000 sq foot of retail space, the largest outdoor area after trafalgar square, and of course, a thoroughly modern five star hotel in place of the old Cafe Royal.

The opening date has been set for June 2012, in order to capitalise on the Olympics in London, an ambitious start date for what is the the most ambitious development Regent Street has ever seen.
