Gucci's Winter 2012 collection debuted back in January at their coming season Fashion event, is now available in stores for purchase. Although not yet possible to purchase or view online, the first phase is currently there to buy. At present since the weather is still relatively clement, and Summer in England at least has not even started, the pieces are mostly the leathers and lighter weight parts of the collection, however, the full collection can be ordered and purchased if you are heading for cooler climes.
The collection as demonstrated by designer Frida Giannini is a darkly glamorous affair, with models heavily made up in thick swathes of dark eyeshadow and swept back hair, daywear leans towards the excessive, with fur layering, and evening wear is suggestive yet gothic, with acres of dark chiffon. Over at menswear leather features heavily, with the same gothic opulence, cashmere fur collared overcoats over patterned suits, sombre dark wool layered on velvet jackets. The mood is dark, perhaps a nod to the austere and gloomy economic times we are in? Whatever the case, the collections are available now.
