Asprey "Cigarette" Clutch For Autumn/Winter 2013/2014.

Asprey have been pretty quite for a good while now, following the glittering re-launch of their brand in Bond Street almost some 10 years ago, they have dwindled somewhat in the luxury stakes, and have become a little less than stellar in their presentations, following the failure of their mens fashion line, and the contraction of their leather-working department, and the abortive "125 Bond Street" luggage collection, the brand is in dire need of some exciting new products.

We therefore tentatively present the Asprey "Cigarette" clutch, this 12.5cm x 4.5cm x 10 cm box clutch is designed to mimic the appearance of a 1930's luxury cigarette case, and it appears to succeed in this regard, as the design harks back to the gatsby era which is currently so in vogue following the new Di-Caprio release.

The item is available in two colours, Lambskin and malachite, and Suede and Lapis, both of which are made from a solid silver frame, in addition to which, and internal chain allows the box clutch to be worn on the shoulder, and both items have matching clasp closure's.

The piece is charming, and very of the moment right now, however, if Asprey are looking to recover their former glamour, pieces like this are simply too old fashioned to do the job, and at £2,000 per edition, far from inexpensive, it appears that despite the airy bright and modern showroom, Asprey still have one foot in the past, and in this market, that is one foot in the grave.
