Gerrit Thomas designed the original 280 Zig Zag chair, and it saw continuos production right up until 2011. Cassina decided to remove it from their product selection at this point, focusing on other pieces. However, they have now moved to not only re-release the iconic chair, but also to make it in three new colours.
Made from sturdy ashwood, this was the first chair of its type, and is constructed of four panels, which bend in sequence from top to bottom, creating an elegant dance on what appears an unstable chair, but is in fact a triumph of both form and function.
The new colours are red, yellow and blue, and along with the re-released originals, will cost £1,200 each.
