Rolex Air King 40mm.

The Air King has been the odd man out of Rolex's line-up for some years now.  While on the one hand the trend towards ridiculously oversizing watches is beginning to come to an end, the size which has become accepted as a 'mens' size is 40mm - 43mm.  In that sense the Air King, which came in at 34mm, was pretty far away from this.  In fact it was so far away from the standard, that in 2014 a selection of feminine dial options, such as pink baton markers, were introduced for the Air King, marking it as a possible future womens option.

Now at Baselworld 2016 Rolex have announced they will be producing a new 40mm version of the Air King, and in a sense therefore re-invigorating the Air King as an alternative mens choice.

The new version will as the old feature just hours minutes and seconds, with a power reserve of 48 hours, Rolex calibre 3131, made from 904L steel, and water resistant to 100 metres.  The Air King has always been the budget choice in the Rolex line up, and although the price of the new model has not yet been announced, we can safetly expect it to be at a lower price point than most current models, but higher than the current Air King.

Available from the end of August 2016 in Rolex boutiques.
