Grand Marnier release Super Premium Quintessence.

Grand Marnier have announced the release of a new super premium liquer, their first in this tier.  The last new release from Grand Marnier was their 150 bottling in 1977, which was preceded some 50 years earlier by a 100 years bottling, neither of these contained cognacs relevant to their moniker, rather they were very fine versions of the base spirit that the family previously kept only for themselves, and which they marketed commercially to commemorate the 100 and 150 years anniversaries of the Houses founding.

This new Quintessence bottling represents something totally different, containing cognacs aged in the cellars of Marnier Lapostes cellars for a minimum of 60 years, the taste utilises the same very fine citus bigaradia Oranges that the 150 features.  According to their bumpf, the first sip gives a bitter taste of Orange notes, which then smoothly slips down the throat while tantalising the palate.

The bottle itself is another departure for Grand Marnier, their classic bottle has been abandoned here for a curvaceous and shapely clear bottle, allowing the liquid to be clearly displayed, making it clear that the contents rather than the receptacle are the priority here.

Set to be released next month at the 2011 TWFA World Exhibition, it will be priced at £500 per bottle, 3 and a half times the cost of their last release the 150.
