Hedi Slimane confirmed as YSL design Director.

Hedi Slimane, The Man responsible for single handedly turning Dior Menswear from bargain basement obscurity into glittering sleek slimline mega brand Dior Homme, and leaving an indelible imprint on Fashion forever ,(Karl Lagerfeld for example lost almost 30 Kilos specifically to fit into a Dior suit) has been confirmed as the new Creative Director of YSL.

The move has a strange sort of Symmetry, He was the menswear head of YSL in 1997, leaving after the Gucci group acquired it, his seven years in Dior need no comment, and following his break from dior in 2007, he focused more on his photographic work, and on designing womenswear.

This new move will also apparently leave him the freedom to continue his career as a photographer, a popular side pastime amongst designers, Lagerfeld for one being quite well known for his photographic expertise.

We look forward to Seeing the new direction Slimane will take YSL in after a five year break from the fashion world.
