Roger Vivier "Faberge of Footwear" global operation expands.

Roger Vivier may not be a name which necessarily bring instant recognition, and mores the pity, however, a brief recap of his achievements will leave you wondering how you ever existed without knowing his name.  Firstly he is the creator of the stiletto heel in its modern form, shoe designer for Dior in the fities and early sixties, and none other than the man responsible for the shoes Queen Elizabeth II wore for her coronation in 1953.  For these reasons and many more he is known as the "Faberge of Footwear".

His Rue St Honore store has managed to retain its location and be roaringly successful amongst those "in the know" for half a century, and as the title of this article suggests, he is not about to stop there, although the man himself may have departed this earth in 1998, his brand goes strong, with boutiques now in London, Milan, Moscow, Osaka, Taipei, Hong Kong, Toronto, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and their latest store which opened just last week in Ocean County California.  Expect Roger Vivier tobe a name you hear alot more in the future.

A cursory glance at some of the inspired design here make it easy to see why Vivier deserves the limelight, however of all his creations, the ones he has been directly responsible for and more recent ones from his brand, perhaps the most charming thing is the brands website.

The site has clearly been made by someone who intrinsically understands Vivier, as it has the playful spirit of the man, and his creations, rather than simply showing you the products, it presents the visitor with mini games, which bring you piece by piece to see all of his creations, one such game is a puzzle game where you assemble a pattern, this is for the Prism bag, then there is the "pacman" game, where you move a bag round a maze picking up buckles avoiding scissors, to bring one an understanding of the buckle collection, while in the background, the most pleasant music plays, you don't want to click on a link in case the music stops.

We strongly suggest visiting www.rogervivier.com, even if you have no interest in the brand, or even fashion, it is a tremendously fun site to visit.
