Louis Vuitton's First Ever Television Ad.

Last week, on November 6th on the U.S. and worldwide cable channel "showtime" Louis Vuitton debuted their first ever Television advert during the 9-10pm break in the hit show "Homeland".  The advert is a dreamy wander through the brands home of Paris, starring Arizona Muse and set primarily in a mysterious midnight soaked Louvre.

That this is Louis Vuitton's first is remarkable, Television has been around now for some 70 years in one form or another, and virtually every mass market brand has utilised the format in some way, however what makes it truly remarkable is that advertising in this way is something that a more "pedestrian" brand would do, the likes of the Gucci's, Prada's, and high street brands, top end marques, and particularly French ones such as Goyard Hermes, Chanel and Vuitton, have always relied on solely  print advertising and word of mouth, or in the case of Goyard solely word of mouth.

Quite what this means is difficult to say, an entire debate on the "meaning" could start and never end, suffice to say it has been done and is out there now, view the video below to see and judge for yourselves.
