Foster & Partners Designed ME London New 5 Star Hotel in Covent Garden.

The ME London 5 Star Hotel, situated in Covent Garden, specifically for those familiar with the area, across the road from Somerset House, a stones throw from the recently refurbished Savoy, the corner of the Aldwych, and for those who really know their London geography, the Western wing of the awe inspiring Bush House, the original footprint of Marconi House, which formerly held the "Gaiety Theatre".

Design wise the hotel has utilised it's corner-like location to its advantage, and designed the floor layout around a central pyramid, spanning through all 10 floors of the hotel, the corridors have been clad in Nero Marquina Marble, and the exterior is carefully matched to the surrounding buildings by using Portland Stone, along with other materials.

In terms of the rooms and suites, there are 15 guest rooms, including 16 suites, these provide floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom spaces, large separate marble bathrooms, the latest acoustic soundproofing if you plan to have a small party, and an integrated entertainment centre in a black laquered cabinet in each room, which also incorporates the mini bar and backlit lighting.

The 8th and 9th floor rooms all come with their own balconies, which give sweeping views of the London skyline at night or day, allowing you to take in sights such as the Shard, St Marys Axe, and all the City's other iconic buildings, or if you want the other side of the building, the Thames River, all while still being right int he heart of theatre-land, and a 15 minute walk from Bond Street and Picadilly.

Right on top of the building is Radio, the hotel's bar, which with the sweeping views of London this offers is soon to be one of London's latest destination bars, at 499 sqm, it can alternate as a huge function room for wedding receptions, private parties or be divided into boardroom and temporary meeting space.

In fact although the Radio rooftop bar is the destination bar of the hotel, they also have two other bars right in the hotel, the Marconi lounge, a relaxing drinks lounge in the lobby, and the Nine storey Atrium, where guests of the hotel can relax with a complimentary cocktail while enjoying 80 foot high views.

As well as three bars, the hotel also has two restaurants, the casual Cucina Aselina, which is open from 10am to 00:30am, and the premier STK restaurant, designed by ICrave studios in New York, it is designed to give diners a premier steak restaurant experience in the most opulent and elegant surroundings.

Room Rates start from £270 per night, and advanced discounts can be secured, book now, or just visit one of the bars or restaurants for and unforgettable experience.

  1. Located in fabulous South Kensington, this is a particularly nice find for the price. Beautiful and classic, the Gainsborough offers every amenity you could want surrounded in a rich traditional English Country Hotel feel.
