A mere basement in Harrods, and a little floor space in Selfridges is no longer enough of a London Presence for Tom Ford, with this week seeing the opening of their 8000 square foot Sloane Street boutique, the biggest new development in their retail arm since their New York branch opened two years ago.
Tom Ford told Womens Wear Daily, in a typically frank and brief statement "Our British customers are amongst the most discerning and stylish in the world, opening our first directly operated flagship in the U.K. is an important step in solidifying our position as a global luxury brand". The straight talking Texan therefor gave no illusions as to his intended direction for his namesake brand, up, up and ever upwards.
And to celebrate this momentous event, Ford has created a brand new addition to his Private Blend collection, titled "Private Blend London". The scent will be a mix of black pepper, saffron, cardamom, coriander, cumin and coffee, which opens up into floral geraniums, jasmine, exotic incense, and citrus oil, all set against Ford's typica woody base of oud, cedar and torchwood, with a hint of birch tar oil, all combining to demonstrate this is a distinctly masculine fragrance, for a new mens boutique.
The Private Blend London will be available from 50ml costing £180, up to 250ml, costing £350, and will be launched later this week, to coincide with the opening of the flagship store.
