New from Leica comes not only a new Camera, but a proposed entire new line of digital compact cameras in the near future. The first release seen here is the Type 112, and is as most of Leica's compacts are, a repackaged Panasonic Lumix, in this case, the Lumix LF1. The camera has therefore, a 12MP 1/1.7" sensor, 20-200mm (35mm equivalent) f/2-5.9 Vario-Summicron lens, 3" 920k-dot LCD a manual lens ring for precision conrol, built-in WiFi and NFC for remote control via iOS and Andriod smartphones, and a 200k-dot electronic viewfinder, and additionally it shoots Full HD video.
Apparently, Audi assisted with the design, a rare move for Leica who like to go it alone aside from Panasonic's assistance on the digital side of things, and the new C-Series range will boast many more compact models, each design to provide a particular solution for consumers, in the case of the 112, being significantly advanced technology alongside top drawer optics.
If this new Camera is of interest to you, it will be available in the colour shown here, which is light gold, and also a "dark red" shade, and will cost £550, it will as per usual with the Leica version of the Panasonic Lumix cameras come with the latest edition of Adobe Lightroom.
