Leica's obsession with collaboration's is not hard to understand, they sell out ridiculously quickly, and Leica seem able to ask any price they fancy, yet still be able to sell them. Consider for example the limited edition monochrome edition which sold out in minutes, with each model costing over £20,000.
Now French luxury concept store Colette have commissioned a special edition Leica, which simultaneously celebrates the anniversaries of two very different brands. Hello Kitty which is 40, and Playboy which is 60.
The Limited edition is on the C Camera model, and shows a Hello Kitty, wearing Playboy bunny ears, and winking somewhat suggestively, a rather odd change, but thats the sort of thing we expect from Colette. The design is printed on a black body, with burgundy accents.
Each edition costs £900, a £350 premium over the standard model, and the numbers of the limited editions have not been announced. If the collaboration appeals, but the pricing of the camera puts it out of reach, Colette are also producing a small range, including iPhone cases, lighters, and socks, all featuring the special logo, and Colette's signature blue.
