For the 2015 Pre summer/cruise collection, Karl Largerfeld dismissed any doubts that his new own brand label would take any of his attention from Chanel. Predictably he produced yet another outstanding, surprising, and spectacular fashion show, and cemented Chanel's fashion shows as the event of any season. Ever.
For this show we saw, guests being ferried to a private artificial island in Dubai, a heavily 70's themed collection, children on the runway, tons of eminently wearable clothes and accessories, masses of celebrities, and lots of bright colours.
As with every collection, Karl produces a few highly odd, or unusual pieces. This season it was gold oil-can themed handbags. An allusion to the middle eastern location? Or merely to the Oil-crisis in the 1970's? Since it's Karl, we may never know.
The collections will be available for purchase from October 2014.
