Zenith El Primero Land Rover Special Edition.

In a somewhat unusual turn, Zenith have collaborated with Land Rover for a special edition wristwatch.  While special editions are nothing new, and a brand of Zenith's size and prestige is well and truly deserving of the right to engage in collaborations, Land Rover is hardly the first brand one would associate with wristwatches, and if so, a more rugged, rough and ready brand, such as perhaps Tag Heuer, with their storied association with cars and racing, would seemingly be a more suitable choice.

For good or ill however, Zenith have engaged themselves with Land Rover, and this is set to be a long term partnership, with much discussion on their press releases on how happy they are with the partnership.  In principle, the decision was taken based on the usage of the El Primero Chronograph movement in vehicular sports timing, and the fact that the El Primero was launched in 1969, and the Range Rover in 1970.  But lets be honest, this is a money making enterprise, and the chance to own a very pretty wristwatch.

And it is very pretty.  The El Primero movement is housed in a 42mm matt-black ceramised aluminum case, with cambered sapphire crystal, racheted crown, black round pushers, sapphire back, brushed grey dial, rhodium plated hour markers, and "El Primero Range Rover / Special Edition" engraving on the oscillating weight further personalised with both companies logos.

Limited to an unspecified number of pieces worldwide, and available from the 30th of November, the Zenith Range Rover El Primero will cost £7250.
