We regularly mock Louis Vuitton for its tone deaf, bad taste, frankly appalling approach to luxury consumerism. We pointed out the how crass a £900 plastic face shield was during a period where health care workers were unable to get access to even £1 ones in some cases, and laughed when they went ahead and doubled down, releasing a £700 fabric one a week later. It seems however that LV has now managed to go a step beyond and upped the game of bad taste.
The new Louis Vuitton Yoga Nat, G10501 if you want to try identifying it, which in the Ikea warehouse style morass of products they sell is becoming increasingly necessary, is constructed from natural cowhide leather. Anyone familiar with the Hindu faith, which birthed Yoga, will be aware that cows are sacred animals. Louis Vuitton's blind tasteless ignorance has therefore allowed it to produce a product which simultaneously steals from an ancient practice, and insulting it its very foundation. Good job guys!
This has not gone unnoticed. The Universal Society of Hinduism made a statement asking it be removed from their product selection and an apology issued, and deaf, dumb, disinterested LV has at time of writing, not even bothered to respond.
This is predictable, LV is only interested in making money with it's ugly tat, and it doesn't care who it upsets or offends. The voices on this continue to complain, and it's likely that LV will offer a bland meaningless apology, and then go back to producing more insulting rubbish.
