Tag Heuer release smartphone model entitled 'link' after their popular watch range.

Tag Heuer contribution to the luxury handset market has been well documented for some time in the form of the meriidist handset.  Although truly a not particularly impressive piece of kit, more window dressing than anything else, it can at least be said to be a purists choice, as aside from cosmetic changes, the core handset has remained unchanged since its introduction, a claim which luxury brands such as Vertu cannot make with their wide and confusing range of rebranded nokia phones.

The Meriidist however is starting to truly show it's age, with little more than a top mounted digital clock as a 'special feature' it has been necessary for some time that Tag up their game if they have any hope of competing in what is a very competitive market arena.  Therefore they are proud to present, and we are happy to inform, the Tag Heuer Link Smartphone.

Taking it's name from Tag's mid range watches, styling is similar in principle to that of the Meriidist phone, but aside from outstanding build quality and a mere nod to it's predecessor, the comparisons end there, this is a unique handset, and closer to a HTC built like a luxury clad tank than any other luxury handset available on the market.

Speaking specifically about build, this handset is built to take abuse, once again unlike other luxury handsets, its all touch front plate is made from gorilla glass, a shatter and break proof glass manufactured by Corning Industries specifically for Electronic gadget applications, all metals which are not precious or rare are industrial grade titanium and stainless steel, and the internals are dust and waterproof up to 30 metres,  an external crown similar to a watch crown can be twisted one way or another to release the sim card holder and memory card holder, and the screen is 16 million colours.  On the luxury side of things, crocodile leather encases the rear, available in a range of colours, and specially treated to withstand oil, water and other damage - similar to the vertu ascent range - and the option of various customisation, including rose gold, white or yellow gold panel's and accent's.

In terms of internal technology, a 5 megapixel camera, 256 mb of RAM, 8 GB memory card and micro SD port, and Androids 2.2 version to ensure everything stays both cutting edge and user friendly.

Any-one wishing to purchase said handset it should be noted, ned to be prepared to pay around £4000 for the basic model going up from there depending on the extras one wishes.
