Devialet Phantom 4500W Rose Gold.

First the facts, presented here is the new rose gold 'phantom' from high end audio firm Devialet.  THe specs of this are 108db, 4500Watts with a bandwith of 14Hz to 27 kHz all packed with intelligent technologies such as a 800MHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 MPCore Processor and 512MB of DDR memory to to control the amp all in a body 25cm by 26cm and 35cm long weighing only 12kg.

The specs are impressive, but the reality behind this is, this is a side project of Bernaud Arnault, LVMH's CEO, and one of the richest men in the world.  With these deep pockets throwing money at the firm, the question must be asked how much is marketing hyoe and how much is real?  What Hi-Fi reviewed the smaller 3000W Silver version and said it lacked subtlety.  The solution appears to have been to made the amp more powerful.  Whether or not making something more powerful is a solution to it lacking subtlety or not will remain to be seen in the case of the new rose gold Phantom, however, in general, it rarely is the case.

The rose gold 4500W Devialet Phantom is available to order, and if the marketing which pitches it as 'the best wireless speaker in the world' doesn't put you off, head over and get ready to pay the £2,350 asking price.
