Moncler begin to offer elegant wool options for their iconic skiwear.

A while back we wrote here about a new jacket from Loro Piana being a solution to the problem of finding an elegant down jacket that can be worn everyday and on the slopes, one comment in that post was of the way that so many of the offerings from moncler look like the puffa jackets that you would expect to see worn by high school students in bright cheapo nylon, and are pretty far from satisfying the price tag.

Moncler has become increasingly popular recently, including a new collaboration with pharrel, partly due to the newly found popularity with hip hop and rap stars, but also due to the fact that they have started to produce a range of down jackets manufactured in wool, and in various different patterns also, including plaids and checks.

They have been essentially taking very popular models, as for example the tibet vest and chartuese jacket shown here and producing them in the wool material in the various different pattern options.  This wool flannel or plaid brings an element of sophistication and elegance to a  garment that formerly in nylon or polyamide was excessively young and hyper funky.

There is of course a tarrif for all this, the wool or patterned versions run between 30% up to double the price of the nylon versions, available now from Moncler.
