Loro Piana Continue expanding their ranges with the announcement of their first sunglasses collection.


New for 2011, Loro Piana have announced they will be producing in collaboration with the specialist lens maker Barberini, a world renowned produced of solar protection lenses, a range of sunglasses which utilise a brand new type of Lens.

This New lens will be called the N.P.E.L.P. lenses, which stands for Neodynium, Praseodymium, and Erbium for Loro Piana.  The names of the so called 'rare earth elements' which these lenses are made from.  The specialised construction means, that they are able to both provide a total block of ultraviolet rays, be antiglare, AND to be the worlds thinnest lenses at 1.8mm thick.

Additionally the frames themselves are handmade in Italy according to exclusive artisanal traditions, hand polished and fitted to the wearers face, and can with the correct applications, be molded to the wearers face.


No pricing information is yet available, however considering the exclusivity of the materials utilised in the construction, they will more likely be in the high hundreds, perhaps even close to the £1000 mark.
