From Moet & Chandon comes this exceptional collection of exceptional wines, we can use the word exceptional here repeatedly without being accused of leaning too heavily on a single superlative, due to the fact that this selection of 100 year old bottlings came from a year - 1911 - which was defined in the cellar books of the Moet house as "un anne exceptionelle".
Bottled just at the beginning of 2011, each set of 6 Bottles gives the enthusiast and collector something quite extraordinary to sample, and for those of us fortunate enough to be able to purchase these as a consumable rather than collectible, a unique experience, one which literally it can b sad that no-one has had for an entire century, and which once these are gone no-one will have again.
Presented in a leather Case made by Moet's partner Louis Vuitton, with the 1911 logo branded on the front, only eleven cases have been made, and of those ten have been earmarked to be sold at charity auctions around the world, one having already sold in Hong Kong for $100,000, and a solitary one is available to the general public, on sale at Harrod's for £65,000.
