Dottling Release The "Guardian" Portable Hand-Held Safe.

Dottling is a name you will be familiar with if you have large quantities of valuable or portable assets that you like to protect, if not, they are a high end safe manufacturer, established in Germany in 1919, in the town of Sindelfingen, and who have reached international acclaim and World renown for their hand crafted and top quality safes.

Famous previous offerings include the Hublot Morphosis iPad controlled Safe, the Dottling gyrowinder for Jaeger Le-Coultre watches, and the Dottling Colismo mini safe which has been made in several versions including for 3 watches, 1 watch, and even a pop art version designed to be a money box.

The range of their exclusive high end products, along with their heritage and pedigree makes Dottling a brand to be taken notice of, and when they release a new product, it gets taken notice of, which in our opinion is a bit of a pity, as this new product from Dottling seems little more than an overpriced gimmick.

The Dottling "Guardian" is not a safe to store copies of the Guardian newspaper, rather it is the worlds first, and also smallest, portable safe.  Called by Dottling's marketing people "security luggage" it is a multi walled high security cylinder, made from carbide component, which is nearly as hard as diamond,  wrapped with several layers of tear proof and cut resistant carbon fiber fabric to prevent drilling and sawing, additionally, for extra protection the innermost and outermost layers are coated with polycarbonate.  Finally, at the opening a high security miniature safe style door, which can only be opened with a three digit code, all of which is wrapped in a high quality leather of your choice, be it quilted calf, plain, or even exotic leather.  Last but by no means least, a GPS tracking device ensures that your Dottling safe will be found if misplaced or stolen.

Essentially this is designed to be a high end watch roll for wealthy travellers who like to carry more than one high end wristwatch with them when they travel, although it can be used to transport and protect anything, watches are the focus of their marketing.  We feel the product is a bit of a waste of time, were it the case that it was a product for people who are worried about simply loosing their valuables, then perhaps it would be a practical product, the addition of a GPS means you can always track the Guardian down, however attempting to market this as a "Travel safe" is in our opinions a contradiction in terms, reason being, the types of people who would shell out the requested £10,000 to own one of these should realistically have their own security team, if not, they have no business travelling with high quality ultra valuable property, it's just asking for trouble.  Being that the only people who would purchase this are ultra wealthy, the chance of a "Normal" thief targeting them is minimal, therefore the type of criminal who would be looking to rob them would be highly intelligent, technologically knowledgeable, and up on luxury goods and valuables, who will have the tools and know-how to open something like this in record time, therefore, making this a target not a deterrent.
