La Cie have been collaborating with Phillipe Starck fir about 5 years now, and this limited edition "Blade Runner" drive represents the fourth drive to be created from the two working together. The Blade Runner drive is designed specifically to be left on a desktop and viewed as a complement rather than merely a utilitarian device. The drive has been designed fully by Starck, rather than merely a vague inspiration, he was part of the process at every stage, additionally, the "floating" design of the drive and the sturdy aluminium "blades" ensure the device is as solid as it is attractive, finished with Starck's signature cross in a glowing orange colour LED.
On the technology side of things, it comes with 4TB of space, 10GB of complementary Wuala Secure cloud storage and uses a USB 3.0 interface to connect to machines. The device is limited, not "rare" limited, but limited to 9,999 pieces worldwide, which means for at least a year you will probably have no difficulty in obtaining one, the price at present is £230, which for a 4TB form of storage with the pedigree this has is more than reasonable.
