Less than a week after our announcing Laduree's Valentines offering for 2013, and just a few days before V. day, Laduree have announced the latest in their celebrated series of collaborations. Following the Alber Elbaz Lanvin Macarons of late 2012, we have a collaboration with one of fashions masters of minimalism, Reed Krakoff.
In keeping with Krakoff's aesthetic, the new Macaron is dark, really, really dark, it is all black, with black buttercream filing, wrapped in black paper, in a black box with, you guessed it, black writing. The flavour of this stygian sweet is chocolate, which comes as a relief to many, expecting liqourice, as that is Laduree's only black Macaron to date.
Called "Strange Love", the only bad news at present is they are currently available exclusively at the New York 864 Madison Avenue store, however, it has been rumoured they will be released worldwide, not in time for Valentines Day, but still, we have hope that we can try them.
