Nordstrom's attempt to re-invent itself by collaborating with a range of edgy cool brands with its "New Concepts Pop-In" has borne fruit with a wide range of inventive pieces from various different brands.  The idea is little more than a re-purposing of what all major department stores have done around the world, and is just a by-product of a desire to stay relevant by opening a new department with new products in it,  Selfridges London with "Superbrands" is a succesful example, so the vernacular used to describe it is little more than semantics.
