One might have thought that with all the time that designers now have on their hands they would be given the opportunity to dig deep into their creative souls and produce genuinely unique, original and unusual pieces, and that the luxury goods industry would be revitalised with the vigorous new view this provided. Sadly, you would be wrong.
As this latest release from Louis Vuitton shows, the luxury goods industry and fashion design continues to be creatively bankrupt. Remove the LV logo and this is in effect an ugly Asics Gel Kayano. We say ugly, because we feel the original from Asics is in fact, better than this monstrosity.
They have not even bothered to use luxurious materials for this, its standard technical mesh, and metallic leather, with a rubber mid and outsole.
If you disagree, for example you may have no taste and more money than sense, these are available now for £980. Bear in mind the Asics Gel Kayano which these are a direct copy of can be obtained for around £120.
