IKEA Art Event 2021 Includes Daniel Arsham & Sabine Marcelis.

IKEA is often vilified for creating bland unoriginal interiors, and is the subject of many memes related to moving into new premises when lacking money for decent quality furniture.  However the Swedish brand democratised minimalist design by making it affordable, and widening access to things that brighten peoples lives by making the spaces they occupy more beautiful can only be a good thing in our opinion.

Another way this is achieved is by giving access to pieces from by highly respected artists and designers.  2019 saw a collaboration with Virgil Abloh, and the latest offering seeking the same is the new 10 piece Art Event for 2021 collection.

This range of 10 pieces includes a clock from Daniel Arsham, vase and throw from Stefan Marx, attractive sconce in a range of colours by Sabine Marcelis, and led torch from Japanese design studio Gelchop.

The entire range will be available later in 2021, with prices ranging from £15 to £60, givign a genuine opportunity to snap up potential design classics.  Best to move fast however, the majority of the Virgil Abloh collab pieces sold out in 15 minutes.
