Leica Launch Their Laser TV Projector The Cine 1

Leica's first foray into the laser TV projector market has arrived with the Cine 1.  While the guts are not really Leica, being made by the large Chinese manufacturer Hisense, the lens tech Leica engineering, being their ultra high-quality Summicron type.

Tech wise this is a solid unit.  4K-quality that can render 80, 100 or 120 inch displays, integrated TV tuner, with inbuilt streaming services access, full connectivity to gaming consoles, Dolby Atmos audio, for all your viewing and listening needs according to their sales material.

Really these are pretty standard specs,  and the shiny exterior is not really interesting or capable of justifying the £3,680 price tag, and really consumers are going to be interested in the Leica lens giving it that 'edge' in quality.  It's also a short-throw system which is useful meaning it can be placed alongside the wall used for projection and there doesn't need to be any thought given to breaking the line of sight or fiddly mountings.  But again, this isn't the first or only unit to do that, so if you're interested, it's gonna be the Leica lens and red dot that gets your engine revving.

Available now from Leica's website.
