Aurora the pen company with history stretching back to the 1919 signing of the Versailles treaty have created a limited edition pen set that commemorates the Poet Dante Alighieri and his divine comedy.
The pen is dedicated in particular to the first canto, and is a portent of a series each dedicated to a different canto of the poem, after this will be "Purgatory" and "Paradise". This first edition will be available in a limited edition of 1,265 pieces, which commemorates the poets birthdate, and 39 in Solid Gold, a number which symbolises the 3 rivers of hell, and the 9 concentric circles down to the abyss.
This model features a black laquer body, with rose gold and an inferno red band in laquer, a decoration on the top of the lid shows Dantes profile, along with a heavily detailed Rose gold nib, above the nib and the inferno red band is a Tricola in enamel.
The pen is presented in an elegant black case with an interior in black leatherette, and a customised inkwell, and the sleever comes with a specialised boxing, along with the legend from the first canto embossed into the case “Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita mi ritrovai per una selva oscura…” the first lines of Dantes Inferno.
The pen is available from all top end retailers, and will cost £1000 per set.
