Porsche Design P9981 Black Edition.

Porsche Design's P9981 edition phone must have been considerably more popular than sources say, according to a recent tech news story they sold less than 90% of their projected estimate for the unit, and were considering quietly discontinuing the device.

For those not in the know, the P9981 is the blackberry 9900 their top of te line handset, with a fancy Porsche designed exterior, and a Porsche designed Theme, same phone and OS, same everything just minor cosmetic changes, like being able to remove the sd card without removing the battery, a correction sorely needed on the standard version.

We say the stories must be incorrect, as they are now releasing this "Black Edition" model, which does sort of suggest that there has been some demand for the product, either that or they really enjoy flogging dead horses.

It is an odd choice, the 9900 is almost a year old now, and is soon to be updated, and at £1800, with all the luxurious models available from the likes of Vertu, GoldVish and others, who would take an old phone with a Porsche casing?
