Plans In The Pipeline To Turn Admiralty Arch Into An Armani Hotel.

Hot off the presses, and the news on both regular news and luxury blogs, is that Giorgio Armani and the Armani Group have put into motion plans to turn the Admiralty Arch, the gate of Pall Mall and Trafalgar Square, into the latest Armani Hotel, if successful this will not only be a major conversion of the landmark, but the first Armani Hotel in the United Kingdom.

The landmark was built in 1912 in memory of Queen Victoria, and is a maze of offices, break rooms, and boardrooms, all of which are in a extreme state of disrepair.  Armani has made a firm offer to buy up and develop the property, with according to sources the deal being at an "advanced stage".

The hotel will be estimated to cost in excess of £100million, and the renovation bill for each room is set to cost some £600,000.  It has been speculated since Rafael Serrano, the entrepeneur behind the Bulgari Hotel Knightsbridge, leased the building, what exactly would be done with the property and knwo we know, with an estimated 80 - 100 guestrooms, restaurant, bar, and high profile presidential suites, the development will be one of the most prestigious in London.

The only possible fly in the ointment will be the security aspect, as its proximity to whitehall, and commanding views thereof will mean it needs to be cleared by the home office, and security services before any development can go ahead.
