Moncler's collaboration with Rick Owens is, predictably, fantastic. That might sound suspiciously like hyperbole, but realistically, when any creative endeavour involved Rick Owens, a person who has single handedly subverted fashion so many times it can't be counted, the output will be outstanding even if he doesn't try.
Thankfully Owens has tried. Indeed, his creative process on this project involved driving across America's desert heartland in a converted tour bus lined with silver Moncler down filled nylon with creative partner Michele Lamy, for the purpose of, in Owens own words:
"The assignment I gave myself was simple and authentic, what would I personally wear in a road trip in an aesthetically focused self-contained moving spaceship? I was trying to strike a balance between strictly functional and flamboyantly deranged"
Amongst the familiar sleeveless tunics, and elongated sleeves, are explosions of bonded nylon layers, are radiance quilted jackets, expressed in Moncler's voluminous down layers, making for statement pieces that will legitimately earn attention, no mean feat in the modern era.
And as this is Rick Owens, rather than merely being pigeonholed into one of the Genius numbers, this is a one off, an editorial, because it's Rick Owens, and so of course.
Available now on Moncler's website, and selected stores, pieces starting from £380.
